Need to Know: I Can Obey God Motions: I (thumbs point to self) Can Obey (two thumbs up) God (reach to heaven). Bible Story: The Ten Plagues (Exodus 5-11), The Beginner’s Bible Memory Verse: “Trust in the Lord with all your heart.” Proverbs 3:5
Review This week Tess Trailrider and Cowboy Billy had a great time learning about God while moving cattle out On the Trail. The Trail Boss gave Cowboy Billy the task of being a scout. This required numerous trips way out ahead of the herd to see if there was danger. Cowboy Billy got tired and wanted to quit instead of doing what the Trail Boss had asked. Our Bible story told us of Moses’ obedience to God when he had to keep going back to Pharaoh. Moses’ example helped Cowboy Billy see how obeying the people in authority over us, shows God that we love Him.
This Week At Home Practice obedience at home by playing a game of “Trail Boss Says”. Take turns being the Trail Boss, giving suggestions for your child to perform certain tasks or pretend actions (Ex: pick up three toys, ride a horse, lasso a cow). Be sure to talk about how obeying shows God how much we love Him. As a family, practice saying the Proverbs 3:5 verse.

Need to Know: I Obey God Because I LOVE Him Bible Story: The Ten Plagues (Exodus 5-12) Memory Verse: “‘For I know the plans I have for you,’ says the Lord. ‘They are plans for good…’” Jeremiah 29:11
Review It wouldn’t make much sense to tell God we love Him then turn around and disobey His commands. This week, our kids learned how the Bible teaches that in order to show God we truly love Him, we must obey.
Through the story of “The Ten Plagues” we saw Moses go to Egypt to tell Pharaoh, the king of Egypt, to let the Israelites go and be free from slavery. Pharaoh refused and made life very difficult for the Israelite people. Each time Pharaoh refused to free the people, God sent a plague to punish the Egyptians. Moses went back time and time again in obedience to God, but each time he went, Pharaoh refused to obey and God sent another plague. Even though it got harder every time, Moses never stopped obeying God.
We memorized more of Jeremiah 29:11, which reminds us of why we can obey God—because He has good plans for us!
This Week At Home Discuss the people who we all have to obey. Talk about how we show God we love Him by obeying not only Him but those He has placed in authority over us!
The best thing you can do for your family is to be an example! Reward and praise your child when he or she applies what they’ve learned. We can’t wait to see you On the Trail this coming Sunday!
