Read: Psalm 5:1-12
“But let all who take refuge in You be glad; let them ever sing for joy. Spread Your protection over them, that those who love Your name may rejoice in You. For surely, O Lord, You bless the righteous; You surround them with Your favor as with a shield” (Psalm 5:11-12).
By definition, favor is a “friendly or well-disposed regard; goodwill.” To show someone favor is to display kindness, generosity and friendship. Think of someone you show favor toward. The feeling you have toward that person, Psalm 5 says the Creator of the Universe feels that way about you! According to Psalm 5:11-12, God’s favor rests on those who love Him. When we surrender to the Lord, His hand is upon us forever.
God’s favor isn’t a magic bubble that keeps us from disaster, trial and temptation. We live in a world marred by sin where bad things happen. God’s favor means we never have to face difficulty alone. He is right beside us, guiding us through and using bad situations for our good. God’s favor is what allows us to sing for joy even when the world around us is falling apart. God’s favor allows us to see blessing in the midst of tragedy.
When you’re feeling alone and are tempted to think God has left you, remember, He hasn’t and He never will.
