Sunday at KidSpring (Preschool):: November 28, 2010

11.30.10

This Sunday in preschool, we learned that God (point up) Has Big Plans(upward V with arms, palms forward) For Me(thumbs to chest)!    Our Bible story was about Gideon (Judges 7).  God had a plan for Gideon.  He sent an angel to tell Gideon that  he would be the leader of God's people.  God wanted Gideon to lead His people in a battle against the big Midianite army.  God wanted Gideon to use only 300 men, and He wanted them to fight using jars and horns. When it was dark, Gideon and his 300 men broke their jars and blew their horns just like God had said. When the Midianites heard them, they got scared and ran away!  Gideon followed God’s plan and won the battle without even fighting!

We celebrated the end of our Dojo series and all we have learned by eating fortune cookies with our Need to Know inside.  It was a great day full of fun and learning.  Don't miss next week as we start a new series called "Chef Jolly's Christmas Kitchen."

This Sunday we wrapped up our Dojo series is a super fun way!  We got to see our characters, Lane and Cosmo, show leadership, which simply means they used what they had learned to be an example for others. Our Bible story came from Acts 16:1-5.  Paul gave advice to Timothy, but Paul didn't simply tell Timothy what to do, he showed him.  We talked about how leadership is not just telling people what to do, but it's more about setting an example for others.

We reviewed the past eight weeks by opening fortune cookies that had our Need to Knows from this series.  We  rewarded everyone who had worked so diligently to memorize our series verses (I Timothy 4:7-8) with a Chinese YoYo.

Thanks so much for being a part of KidSpring.  We hope to see you back this coming Sunday as we start a brand new Christmas series.  Don't miss it!

11.21.10

Our preschoolers learned, "I Will Pray" this week through the story of Hannah (I Samuel 1-2).

We can pray anytime, anywhere, about anything!  God want's us to pray when we are happy, confused, afraid or sad.  Hannah prayed when she was sad because she did not have any children.  God heard Hannah's prayer.  Hannah had a baby boy and that made her happy.  Hannah prayed when she was happy and thanked God for her baby boy.

Next Sunday, we will be asking preschoolers to say this verse we have been learning the past 7 weeks:

Everything in the Bible is God's Word.  It corrects us when we are wrong, and teaches us to do what is right.  2 Timothy 3:16

Have a great week remembering to encourage your preschooler to pray!

Our Need to Know this week in  K-5th grade was...

LOYALTY- I will be faithful to the people and things I have committed to.

We read from 1 Samuel 14 and saw the loyalty in the relationship between Jonathan and his armor bearer.  Being loyal is important to God.  He wants us to commit to doing what we say we will do.  As kids, that means we are loyal to our parents by obeying them and doing what they asked.  We are loyal to our friends when we stick by them no matter what.  We are loyal to our teachers when they give us an assignment and we do it.

We talked about how we might struggle sometimes to be loyal, but there is someone we can look to for help.  God is always loyal to us.  He promises to never leave or forget us.  He is faithful!

Next week, we will be asking every kid to commit to saying the following verses from I Timothy 4:7-8...."Don't have anything to do with Godless stories and silly tales.  Instead, train yourself to be Godly.  Training the body has some value.  But being Godly has value in every way.  It promises help for the life you are now living and the life to come."

11.14.10

This week  in SpringTown and Treehouse our Need to Know was, "I Will Learn!"  Sensei Lee, one of our Dojo, Jr. series characters, told us a true story from the Bible about when Nicodemus learned from Jesus (John 3:1-21).

We talked about the different ways we can learn about Jesus.  Coming to church was one of our favorite ways!  We practiced our memory verse together and are excited to say it for a prize on November 28.  Our verse comes from 2 Timothy 3:16  and says, "Everything in the Bible (hands open like a book) is God’s( point up) Word(cup hands around mouth)It corrects us(shake right pointer finger) when we are wrong(thumbs down) and teaches us(tap finger on head) to do what is right(thumbs up).
