Sunday at KidSpring (Elementary):  Easter 2011

04.24.11

We hope you had a great Easter with your family! In KidSpring, elementary-aged kids celebrated Easter by solving a very imortant question: “Where is Jesus now?” We read the story from John 20 about God raising Jesus from the dead! The reason we don’t have to be sad that Jesus died is because Jesus Is Alive Right Now!

In small group, the kids made a beaded necklace to remind them of the story of Jesus. Each bead has a different meaning:

  • Black: Sin separates us from God
  • Red: Blood that Jesus shed
  • White: Clean hearts when we believe that Jesus died for us
  • Green: Growing in our faith
  • Blue: Baptism happens after we believe
  • Purple: Jesus is King and is alive right now

Don't forget that next week there will be prizes for anyone who can say our memory verse by heart!

But without faith no one can please God. We must

believe that God is real and that he rewards everyone

who searches for him. – Hebrews 11:6

In large group, Parker and Stevie endured to the end and stumbled upon the hidden treasure chest in the most unexpected way when Stevie fell through the floor! Inside they discovered Pif-Paf's family Bible and a letter explaining that the real treasure was the faith that God had given them. But, the story isn't over yet! Come back next week and we will see what Parker and Stevie are going to do with the treasure!

Sunday at KidSpring (Preschool): Easter 2011

04.24.11

We hope you and your family had fun this Easter weekend celebrating that Jesus Is Alive! In KidSpring, preschoolers learned that we can believe that God is real, becuase Jesus Is Alive! Listen and watch as Cluey, our special secret agent watch from Large Group, tells us what happened when Jesus died and came back to life in Matthew 28:1-6:

In small group we made a simplified version of "Resurrection Eggs" to help us remember that Jesus is alive! Here's what was inside each egg in your child's egg carton:

  • Egg #1: A cross reminds us that Jesus died on the cross to forgive us for all the wrong things we do.
  • Egg #2: A stone (jelly bean) helps us remember the big stone that was in front of the cave where they laid Jesus after He died so that no one could get in or come out. God sent angels to move this big stone three days after Jesus died because Jesus was not dead anymore!
  • Egg #3: This egg is empty to remind us that Jesus did not stay dead in the cave.  God made Jesus alive again, and He is still alive today!

We hope that you will join us next Sunday for our last week of Clue. If your child can remember our series Remember Verse, he or she will win a fun prize!  Practice saying it together this week:

"Believe that God is real. (both arms point up)

He rewards everyone (pat self on back)

Who searches for Him." (binoculars to eyes, scanning room)

Hebrews 11:6 (hold up six fingers)

04.19.11

This week, we answered a really important question: “Why did Jesus have to die?” Through the story of the last supper in Matthew 26 we learned that Jesus Paid the Price For My Sins!

In Large Group Parker and Stevie continued their journey to find the treasure in Pif-Paf Manor. They solved a picture clue that spelled "Crucifixion" and learned why Jesus had to die to pay the price for our sins. The next clue they found was a book. The pages are locked, but hopefully next week they will be able to crack the code! They've got to be close to finding the treasure! Click below to see what Great Grandfather Pif-Paf had to say in his journal this week:

In small group we talked about different ways we all mess up. We disobey, lie, cheat, and use mean words just to name a few. These wrong things separate us from God, and there's no way we could ever pay the price to fix the problem on our own. But beacuse God loves us so much, He sent Jesus to pay the price for our sins. To help kids tell everyone that Jesus has paid the price for our sins, they've each received a “flapper” that will help them know what to say and how to say it!

Practice remembering this verse as a family, and parents, talk to your kids about what it means to have faith and search for God!

"But without faith no one can please God.

We must believe that God is real

and that He rewards everyone

who searches for Him."

Hebrews 11:6

04.17.11

Over the last seven weeks, we've seen that the best place to search for clues about God is in God's Word, the Bible. This week we discovered that God is real because... God Sent Jesus To Forgive Me! The Bible tells us that Jesus died on the cross to forgive us for the wrong things we do, because He loves us and wants us to live in heaven one day. Watch & listen as Cluey tell us all about it...

In small group, we played “I Spy” as we talked about how we need to forgive others, no matter how they make us feel, since God forgives us! Next week we will uncover the most exciting mystery of all, so bring your friends and family, and join us for an Easter service! Until then, keep practicing the Remember Verse:

"Believe that God is real. (both arms point up)

He rewards everyone (pat self on back)

Who searches for Him." (binoculars to eyes, scanning room)

Hebrews 11:6 (hold up six fingers)

04.10.11

This week in KidSpring we tackled a tough question: “Why does God let bad things happen?” There is no easy answer, but we did our best to search the Bible for clues. God helps us understand the answer to this mystery in Jonah 1-3. Listen as Great Grandpa Pif-Paf tells Jonah's story:

ES_CLUE_Bible Story - Week 6 from Kidspring Media on Vimeo.

Bad things happen because there is sin in our world. We may not fully understand everything, but God's Word reminds us of what we need to know: Bad Things Happen, But God Will Make Everything Right!

In small group, we played “Character Bingo” where we learned about people from the Bible who had something bad happen to them, but God made it right in the end. Some of these people included Eve (Genesis 3), Joseph (Genesis 37, 39, 40) and Jesus (Matthew 26).

In large group, we continued searching for the treasure with Parker and Stevie who thought they were headed for a disaster when all the lights went out in Pif-Paf Manor. They were worried that they would not find their way out, but in the end, the lights going out helped them find the next clue!

Join us next week as we continue looking for treasure in Great Grandpa Pif-Paf's abandoned manor. In the meantime, keep practicing our memory verse:

"But without faith no one can please God.

We must believe that God is real

and that He rewards everyone

who searches for Him."

Hebrews 11:6
