07.31.11

During our third week At the Movies, K-5th graders learned to Be Courageous! We compared the story of Hiccup in How to Train Your Dragon to the story of Daniel and the Lions' Den in Daniel 6. Both Hiccup and Daniel showed courage by doing what is right no matter what!

Join us next week for another great movie!  Practice our Memory Verse, and if you can say it by yourself on Sunday, you'll win a prize!

"Stand firm in the faith; be courageous; be strong. Do everything in love." 1 Corinthians 16:13-14

We had a "Wowee-BOZowee" Sunday with BOZ the Bear At the Movies learning about all the shapes God made. We learned that we can look around everywhere we go and say, "Thank You God For Shapes!" You can watch the movie we saw in Large Group today by purchasing the "Thank You God For...Colors and Shapes" DVD.

What shapes do you see in your house? Most of our roofs are made of triangles. God gives us a roof because He loves us and wants to keep us safe & dry. Look at your hands. What shapes do you see? Round palms and rectangle fingers are just a few of the shapes God put in our hands. God gives us hands to do good things for Him, like Nehemiah did in Nehemiah 1-13. In Small Group, we learned the story of how God used Nehemiah to help God's people rebuild a wall made of rectangle bricks. There were shapes all throughout this Bible Story!

Join us next Sunday, August 7, for our last BOZ the Bear movie, and be sure to practice remembering the following verse from the Bible. If kids can say this verse on their own during small group this coming Sunday, they will win a prize!

“Give thanks to God—(look up as arms reach up)

He is good (two thumbs up)

and His love (hug yourself)

never quits." (keep arms hugged & shake head “no”)

1 Chronicles 16:34 (hold up one finger)

07.24.11

Yesterday, preschoolers had a great time At the Movies! Throughout this series, we are watching movies starring BOZ the Bear and the Baxter family. This week they told us about all the colors God made, and we learned to say:

Thank you God (reach arms up to sky & look up)

For Colors! (paint rainbow with hand)

Your family can watch the BOZ movie we we saw this Sunday as well as the movies we'll show over the next two Sundays by purchasing the "Thank You God For...Colors and Shapes" DVD. BOZ the bear also has his own website for you and your kids to enjoy!

In small group we read a Bible story from Genesis 1-2:3 about how God created the world and all the colors in it. Join us next week to learn another great Bible story and to see another fun movie starring BOZ and the Baxters. Until then, play a game of "I Spy" with all the different colors God made and practice our series Remember Verse:

“Give thanks to God—(look up as arms reach up)

He is good (two thumbs up)

and His love (hug yourself)

never quits." (keep arms hugged & shake head “no”)

1 Chronicles 16:34 (hold up one finger)

During our second week At the Movies, K-5th graders learned to Be Confident! We compared the story of Rapunzel in Tangled to the story of Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego in Daniel 3. All of the characters were confident in what they believed, and they helped us learn that we can be confident in God!

Join us next week for another great movie, and in the meantime you can practice our Memory Verse:

"Stand firm in the faith; be courageous; be strong. Do everything in love." 1 Corinthians 16:13-14

07.17.11

This Sunday, K-5th graders had fun At the Movies! For the next three weeks we will be watching clips from our favorite movies and learning important lessons about God. This week, Woody from Toy Story 3 helped us learn to Be Caring.

In small group we read about Jesus washing his disciples' feet in John 13. He cared deeply for the people around Him, and we should follow his example!

Join us next week for another great movie, and in the meantime you can practice our new Memory Verse:

"Stand firm in the faith; be courageous; be strong. Do everything in love." 1 Corinthians 16: 13-14
