Sunday At KidSpring (Elementary School):: September 25, 2011

09.25.11

We had fun in KidSpring on Sunday learning Proverbs 12:14, "We are rewarded or punished for what we say and do."

God loves us and wants to reward us for doing the right thing, but when we disobey and make wrong choices we are punished, just like Adam and Eve in Genesis 2:15-3:24. Springside's assistant principal, Ms. Wright, helped us understand the importance of making wise choices instead of lying or cheating. Check it out!

Next week we will be giving away PRIZES for anyone who can recite all eight wise words from Proverbs. It's a tough challenge, but we know you can do it! Try making flash cards this week to practice matching the verse to the reference. Here they are one more time:

Week 1 - "Let wise people listen and add to what they learn."  Proverbs 4:5

Week 2 - "A person's fear sets a trap for him, but one who trusts the Lord is safe."  Proverbs 29:25

Week 3 - "The lazy will not get what they want, but those who work hard will."  Proverbs 13:4

Week 4 - "Godly people are careful about the friends they choose."  Proverbs 12:26

Week 5 - "Don't follow the bad example of cruel and evil people. Turn aside and keep going."  Proverbs 4:14-15

Week 6 - "Too much pride can put you to shame. It's wiser to be humble."  Proverbs 11:2

Week 7 - "We are rewarded or punished for what we say and do."  Proverbs 12:14

Week 8 (we will learn it next week) - "Let God be in charge of whatever you do. Then your plans will work out for good!"  Proverbs 16:3

09.25.11

Preschoolers in KidSpring had fun this Sunday learning to Say "No" To Bragging! Bragging is telling others how great you are. Instead of bragging, God wants us to let others tell us when we do something well. That is what He says in Proverbs 27:2:

"Don't brag (cup hands around mouth)

about yourself (thumbs to chest)

--let others (point to audience)

praise you." (pat yourself on the back)

Willy Worm, our class pet, learned this lesson when he dug around in the Bible and found the story of the Tower of Babel in Genesis 11. Say "Where's Willy Worm?", then click below to see what he found for us this week!

Baptism: Leading Your Child to the Next Step

09.21.11

As a parent, God has given you the primary role of nurturing the faith of your child. Use the following discussion points to lead your child in his or her next step--baptism.

  • Once you have committed to following Jesus, you need to let others know by being baptized. The Bible is clear that once we start following Jesus, our next step is to be baptized. (Mark 16:16)
  • Baptism takes place in the water. It is a picture of what Jesus did when He took the punishment for your sins. As you go under the water, you show others you believe Jesus died for you. When you come up out of the water, you show others you believe that God raised Jesus back to life. You have a new life because of Jesus! (Romans 6:4)
  • Getting saved and then baptized does not mean you will always live a perfect life. There will be times in your life when you will sin and make wrong choices. When this happens, you should pray and ask Jesus to forgive you. Even though you will mess up, you can know that Jesus died one time for the forgiveness of ALL our past, present and future sins. That means even though you will sin again, you do not need to be saved or baptized another time. (1 Peter 3:18)
  • You can continue following Jesus by reading your Bible, doing what Jesus says and praying every day. (Psalm 1:2)

Sunday At KidSpring (Elementary School):: September 18, 2011

09.18.11

Can you believe this is our sixth week at Springside?! Time is flying by as we are learning wisdom from the book of Proverbs in the Bible.

This week, Mr. Wise shared wise words from Proverbs 11:2, "Too much pride can put you to shame. It's wiser to be humble." We learned that it's important not to think too highly of ourselves. Instead, we should consider others as more important, and we should always thank God for the abilities He has given us!

Mr. Wise also told us about a time when he had to rely on wisdom from the story of the Tower of Babel in Genesis 11:1-9.

We only have two more weeks in this series so be sure you're practicing all of the wise words we've learned so far!

09.18.11

This Sunday at KidSpring, preschoolers learned to Say "Yes" To Being Kind! We made telescopes to help us search for ways to be kind, and we heard how Ananias was kind to Saul in Acts 9:1-19. When Ananias was kind to Saul, Saul decided to be kind, too! Say "Where's Willy Worm?" as you click below to see him tell today's Bible story.

We know that God likes for us to be kind, because He tells us so in Proverbs 15:26. Practice remembering this Bible verse with your preschooler this week, and we'll see you next week for another fun Sunday in the Let's Play School series!

"The Lord hates (Point up)
evil thoughts, (Make a mad face and tap finger on head)
but kind words (smile and make hands talk to each other)
please Him.” (Raise the roof)
Proverbs 15:26 (Hold up one finger on right and & five fingers on left hand)
