This week was our last week in The Great Race. The racers had to race dirgibles through Paris, France while learning how to worship God every day!
During Large Group, Dr. Despair tried one final attempt to thwart Kip Daring's chances at winning the championship medal. However, when his evil side kick Peggy Panic tossed her grappling iron too soon, she trapped Dr. Despair's dirgible instead of Kip's! Kip ended up winning the race and Dr. Despair was launched onto a deserted island where we are sure he is scheming more plans of sabatoge! Kip kept the championship medal, but made sure to thank God for giving him the ability to race and win!
We wrapped up the story of Nehemiah this week by reading that the people of Jerusalem celebrated and worshiped God because they finished rebuilding the wall! Everyone in the city came out because they were so thankful to God for helping them rebuild the wall. They sang songs and played instruments to worship Him. We learned that we can also worship God every day by singing, dancing, praying, reading our Bibles, and obeying God! This week, we need to know I Will Keep Worshiping God Every Day!
Join us next week for a brand new series as we meet Noble the Knight, Hark the Herald, and a surprise character in The Christmas Knight!
This week in The Great Race, we raced donkeys through the Grand Canyon! We learned that it is important to keep on obeying the rules God gives us in the Bible as well as the rules we have at home and at school!
During Large Group, Dr. Despair & Sabrina Sinister devised an evil plan that would keep Kip Daring from winning the race. Their evil plan involved disobeying the race rules and splitting up to try and win. However, Kip and Jenny obeyed the rules and did not split up. Hank Happy saved the day by spoiling Dr. Despair & Sabrina Sinister's evil plan, allowing Kip and Jenny to catch up and win!
In today's Bible story from Nehemiah 8, 9:1-4, we learned that the people of Jerusalem finally finished the wall! They were eager to celebrate, but Nehemiah decided to tell the people about the rules God had given Moses so that the people would know how to obey and follow God. Ezra, a priest in Jerusalem, read the rules aloud to the people. The people were sad because they had not been following God's rules. They decided that from now on, they were going to obey the rules God had given them! We can do the same thing by obeying God's rules for us and obeying the rules of our parents and teachers! That's why this week we Need to Know: I Will Keep On Obeying God!
Next week, if your child has memorized our series Memory Verse (below), he or she will win a prize! Practice saying the verse together at home:
So let us run the race (jog in place)
that is before us and never give up. (shake head "no" and cross arms in front of chest)
We should remove from our lives (make motion of tossing behind back)
anything that would get in the way (use hands to cover face)
and the sin that holds us back. (make fists and pull toward body)
Hebrews 12:1b (put one finger up, then 2 fingers)
Join us next Sunday for the last week of The Great Race, and have a happy Thanksgiving!
This week, preschoolers in KidSpring raced through the Grand Canyon and learned to say, "I Will Share My Things!" God shows us in the Bible how He wants us to share the things He has given us. We learned this from the story of Jonathan and David in 1 Samuel 18:1-4. This week, thank God for all of the things He has given you, and practice sharing them with others!
You can also practice our series Remember Verse (below), because if your child can say the whole verse to his/her small group leader this coming Sunday he/she will win a prize!
"So let's not (shake arms in "no" motion)
get tired (lay head on hands like sleeping)
of doing what is good." (two thumbs up)
Galatians 6:9 (hold up six fingers)
Have a great Thanksgiving, and we'll see you next Sunday for our last week of The Great Race Jr.!
This Sunday preschoolers raced to a story in God's Word that taught us to say, "I Will Not Give Up When Things Go Wrong!" When we looked at the story of Paul's Shipwreck in Acts 27, we saw how Paul did not give up when everything was going wrong--his boat was going the wrong direction, they sailed into a storm, and everybody on board wanted to give up. But Paul did not give up because he knew God would take care of him!
We can be like Paul and not give up when things go wrong--like when we're trying to be nice to someone who is mean and when we're trying to learn new things. In Large Group, Kimmie--a member of the Guy Handsome Racing Team--learned this lesson, too! Kimmie wanted to give up working on the Anything-Mobile when she became tangled in rope and ended up with a bucket on her head! But after hearing the Bible Story and practicing the series Remember Verse, she decided to not give up and to help Guy Handsome win the race across The Great Wall of China!
Your family can practice our series Remember Verse (below) together! If preschoolers can say this verse on their own in two weeks, they will win a prize!
"So let's not (shake arms in "no" motion)
get tired (lay head on hands like sleeping)
of doing what is good." (two thumbs up)
Galatians 6:9 (hold up six fingers)
This week in The Great Race, we went to China for a scooter race across the Great Wall of China. We learned that it's imporant for us to keep doing what is right and not get distracted!
In our Bible Story from Nehemiah 6:1-16, the wall of Jerusalem was almost complete and everyone was very excited. Well, almost everyone. Three men named Sanballat, Tobiah, and Geshem did not want Nehemiah to finish the wall, so they sent a message asking for Nehemiah to come visit. Nehemiah knew they were trying to trick him and that it would be wrong stop building the wall. So, he decided to stay focused on what God wanted him to do instead. Even when Sanballat, Tobiah, and Geshem tried to distract Nehemiah by spreading false rumors about him, Nehemiah did what was right and did not get distracted!
During Large Group, Kip Daring had to do his best to stay focused on winning the race instead of being distracted by cotton candy. Knowing Kip's weakness, Dr. Despair devised an evil plan to sell cotton candy right on the race course! Thankfully, Kips assistant Jenny Alright was able to encourage him to ignore any distractions during the race. Kip avoided Dr. Despair's evil plan and crossed the finish line first!
This week you can help your child identify potential distractions in their own life. Work together to help them think of ways they can keep doing what is right when those distractions occur!
You can also help your child find the book of Nehemiah by revewing the first 16 books of the Bible: Genesis, Exodus, Leviticus, Numbers, Deuteronomy, Joshua, Judges, Ruth, 1 Samuel, 2 Samuel, 1 Kings, 2 Kings, 1 Chronicles, 2 Chronicles, Ezra, Nehemiah.
Join us again next week as we travel to our next race location and learn more from the book of Nehemiah!
