This week, there was mutiny aboard the Penny Poor! Salty tried to tie up Captain Captain and change the route of the Penny Poor toward the island of Nah Trajare. Even though Salty tied Captain up and tried to take over the ship, Captain remembered a story from his mum about showing forgiveness. Captain taught us that Jesus forgives all our sins and we should forgive others, too! We learned When I Follow Jesus, I Forgive Others!
We hope you will join us this Sunday as we embark on the last week of our voyage! Will Captain and Satly find the Island of the Unknown? Will it be all they have hoped for? Come back to find out!
This Sunday preschoolers in KidSpring will set sail with Captain Buckleboots & Pirate Penny to answer this pirate question: "Pirates discover treasures of jewels and cents, but can pirates discover where Jesus is?"
In elementary school we will be back aboard the Penny Poor to see how Salty's swarthy plan unfolds, and we are sure to discover more about following Jesus.
If you're out of town for Spring Break, go here to see if there's a NewSpring campus near you, or check back next week to see what happened in KidSpring!

In addition to small group time each week, we also have large group. This is a time when all of our small groups gather for about 30 minutes of worship and a live show! The series we are currently in is called Pirates! The Voyage of the Penny Poor. Our actors, Captain Captain, Salty McGee, Captain Nosebleed, and Captain Captain's best feathered friend Fernando have brought the bible to life for us!
This Easter our crew hopped aboard the Penny Poor where we continued on our voyage to the Island of the Unknown. Captain Captain has been telling us stories that he remembers his mum telling him when he was a young lad. The stories are helping us find the Island of the Unknown and learn how to follow Jesus! This week, Fernando was revived after a tough run in with a killer whale, which reminded Captain of the story of Jesus coming back to life. We celebrated that Jesus is alive by playing this game:
This was a fun way to celebrate aboard the Penny Poor! We know that we can celebrate because Jesus is alive! Make sure to come back next week to see what the next part of the story is!
In addition to small group each week, we also have Large Group time. This is when all of our preschool small groups gather for a 30 minute live show! During our Pirates! series, the Bible comes to life through our actors--Captain Buckleboots and Pirate Penny/Pete--and Polly the Parrot!
This Easter we jumped aboard their ship, The Jolly Roger, where we sang the first song below and did a pirate chore--hoisting the sail. Then Oli the Octopus caught a message in a bottle with this week's pirate question: "Pirates can dive and count to five, but can pirates discover if Jesus is alive?" Using Captain Buckleboots' special map, we discovered that The Bible Says Jesus Is Alive! and celebrated by praising the Lord with the second song below.
Each Sunday in KidSpring, elementary KidSpringers spend about 30 minutes getting to know each other, playing games, reading the Bible, praying and remembering Bible verses with a small group of friends (8-10 kids) and one or two leaders. We call this time Small Group!
This Easter in small group, we played a game to help us remember that Jesus was wrapped in linen and he broke free. In our game, we had two teams competing against each other. The kids stood side by side in a circle facing outward. The first child held the beginning of a roll of streamers in his or her hand and then passed the roll to the next person. Each child helped in wrapping white streamers around the team. The first of our teams to use the whole roll of streamers and then break free was the winner! We used white streamers, but if you want to play this game at home, you can also use toilet paper!
We are so glad you joined us for an Easter service! We had fun celebrating while we learned When I Follow Jesus, I Celebrate Because He's Alive!
