Sunday at KidSpring (Preschool):: June 24, 2012

06.24.12

This Sunday we began a new series called At the Movies! Over the next eight-weeks preschoolers will pretend to be at the movies with BOZ The Green Bear Next Door! BOZ and his friends will help us see that God loves us and made us to do many things.

This week we learned to say "God Loves Me!" Jesus told us all about God's love for us when he taught on a mountain in Matthew 6:25-34 & Luke 12:22-31. We also learned this from watching "Counting on God's Love" starring BOZ the Bear. This movie, along with several others we will watch during this series, is from a BOZ DVD called "Thank You God for Colors and Shapes", which you can purchase for yourself here or at your local Christian bookstore.

Click here for some activities to help your preschooler understand how they can count on God's love! And check back later this week to see the new song we are singing this series!

Sunday at KidSpring (Elementary):: June 24, 2012

06.24.12

We had SO much fun in our Off The Rails series! This week, we started a new series called At The Movies where we will be learning about Jesus by watching clips from some of our favorite movies!

In Large Group, we watched a clip from Mr. Popper's Penguins. Mr. Popper's father gave him six penguins and, at first, he didn't even want them. As Mr. Popper spent time with the penguins, he began to love them and would do anything for them.  Mr. Popper did whatever it took to get his penguins back after someone took them and put them in a zoo. We learned that, just like the penguins were important to Mr. Popper, I Am Important to Jesus!

In Small Group, we read the story about The Lost Sheep from Luke 15, Luke 11, and Matthew 18. In this story, we learned that a shepherd will leave the flock to find one lost sheep because every sheep is important to the shepherd. Each one of us is like a sheep and Jesus is our shepherd.

Join us later this week to find out more about what we learned this week!

06.19.12

On Sunday, we learned I Should Tell Others About God's Love!  To help us tell others about God's love, we gave each child a "Flapper."  This is a tool kids can use to tell their friends and family about God's love!  In order to use the Flapper, start on the green page that says "Guess What?"

After reading the first page, open the middle flap so that you see a page with the word "SIN" separating "US" from "GOD."  Discuss with your child that because of our sin (the things we do that God says are wrong), our friendship with God is hurt.

After reading that page, open the "SIN" flap to show the cross underneath.  Discuss with your kids that Jesus came and died on the cross to fix our friendship with God.  (The cross is now covering the gap where "SIN" was.)

After discussing this page with your child, open to the back page.  You can tell your child what it means to ask Jesus to be the leader of his or her life.

After walking your child through the Flapper, allow him or her to explain it back to you!
