Out In The Wild! I Can Read The Bible!

05.21.13

Read this Bible story from Acts 28-Jude 25 with child from a children’s Bible like this one, and read it on your own here Bible Gateway

Here are some ways to talk about this Bible story with your child:

  • What did Paul and his friends tell people about? (Jesus)
  • How did the letters, Paul and his friends wrote, help people in God’s family? (They helped the people know WHO God is and HOW He wanted them to live)
  • Can we read these letters in the Bible? (Yes)
  • We can read these letters from Jesus’ friends to see WHO God is and HOW He wants us to live!

Preschoolers are full of questions, but sometimes, as adults, our minds are so focused on what to do next that we ask the same questions and get the same answers from our kids. Here are some questions to ask your little one this week that just might start a fun, interesting conversation:

  • What is your favorite book to read at home? Why do you like that story?
  • Do you like to read stories from the Bible? What is your favorite story?
  • Can you read the Bible when you are happy? What about when you are sad? (You can read the Bible ANYTIME!)

Out In The Wild! The Whole Bible Is About God’s Love For Me!

05.15.13

On Sunday, Up and Adam told us that the Bible is a giant love story all about God's love for us! We learned that we feel God's love when we read the Bible and do what it says. To show us that "The Whole Bible Is About God's Love For Me," Up and Adam decided to take a walk through the Bible. Along the way, they saw many different stories from God's word to see how He loves us! Their journey through the Bible began in Genesis, when God created Adam and Eve. We heard the stories of many great people in the Bible like Noah, Moses, and Abraham. At the end of their trip, Up and Adam explained about how God sent His son, Jesus, as an ultimate sign of His love for us. Check out the video that your children saw on Sunday!

Here are some ways to talk about this Bible story with your child:

  • What did God tell Adam and Eve about the SPECIAL tree? (Do not eat the fruit)
  • Did Adam and Eve obey or disobey God? (Disobeyed God)
  • Did God stop loving Adam and Eve because they disobeyed? (No)
  • Who did God send to make things right again? (Jesus)
  • God sent Jesus to fix our friendship with Him because He loves us so much! All of the stories in the Bible tell us that God loves you and me!

Preschoolers are full of questions, but sometimes, as adults, our minds are so focused on what to do next that we ask the same questions and get the same answers from our kids. Here are some questions to ask your little one this week that just might start a fun, interesting conversation:

  • If you were a lion, what would your roar sound like? What animal would be your best friend?
  • What are some things you love? (food, colors, toys, etc.) Does God love you more than you love those things? (Yes!)
  • What can we read to discover how much God loves us? (The Bible)

Preschool Remember Verse

05.08.13

“Open my eyes (hands open wide beside eyes)

so that I can see (make binoculars with hands)

all the wonderful things (two thumbs up)

in your teachings.” (make book with hands)

Psalm 119:18

This verse means that we can ask God to open our eyes to all the wonderful things in His Word—the Bible!
Take a few moments today to help your child see some of the wonderful things God has given you and your family. You can do this by playing “I Spy”. As you take turns “spying” objects with your child, remind him/her that everything we have is from the Lord.
Share that the Lord wants great things for his children and share James 1:17 (ERV). This is something wonderful we learn in God’s teachings, the Bible! We know that all we have is a good gift from God. We also learn that God never changes! He is always good and will always love us!

In this series, preschoolers learned two brand new songs: “The Bible” courtesy of the Willow Creek Association and “Wonderful Things” written and produced by our very own KidSpring and NewSpring Worship teams. You can download “Wonderful Things” here (Right-click and Save As…).

Out In The Wild! The Bible Is God’s Word!

05.06.13

Jambo rafikis! (That means “hello friends”)! On Sunday in elementary school KidSpring, we joined Up and Adam and learned that The Bible is God’s word! God knew that we needed something written down on paper to help us remember who He is and how He wants us to live. God used over 40 different people to write the Bible. On Sunday, we focused on how God chose Jeremiah as one of the people who wrote down exactly what God said! Check it out:

And remember to keep practicing the Memory Verse, Psalm 119:17-18. At the end of the series, children will have a chance to recite it back and get a treat!

“Be good to me, your servant so that I may live to obey your word.

Open my eyes so that I can see all the wonderful things in your teachings.” (ERV)
