Where The Money Really Goes At NewSpring

By: john weirick

Your teenager comes home from a Fuse student service and shares how awesome the videos, T-shirts and Xboxes were.

Your friends comment on how amazing the lights and live music were at a NewSpring service.

Maybe you’ve asked yourself: Is that really how a church should use money?

Every dime at NewSpring is spent on missions – the mission of reaching people far from God and teaching them to follow Jesus step by step (Matthew 28:18-20).

Whatever It Takes

We’re going to do whatever it takes to help people meet Jesus and learn how to follow Him step by step. According to a Gallup survey, 58 percent of South Carolinians go to church. That means 42 percent of our state does not attend church. Our mission field starts at home with our friends, family members, and coworkers who do not have a relationship with Jesus.

When we invest in lights, screens and cinema-quality videos, we’re spending money on missions by creating an environment where people can hear about Jesus in a way that’s clear and engaging. When we spend money on Xboxes, children’s facilities and student trips to the beach, we’re spending money on missions by investing in the next generation.

Every dime at NewSpring is spent toward missions.

Could that money be spent on something else? Sure. But according to Jesus, nothing makes a greater impact or is more valuable than sharing the Gospel.

When we contribute with our finances and our lives to what God is doing through His Church, we’re making an eternal investment. God is doing something eternally significant through His Church and we get to be a part of it (Ephesians 3:20-21).

No organization, business, or institution in the world has the potential to impact lives like the local church.

Every Dollar Counts

No amount of money given to the Church is wasted when it’s used to grow more committed followers of Jesus. The net worth of a church isn’t found in the size of the budget, but their obedience to Jesus.

So where does all the money go at NewSpring Church?

Operating costs pay bills that keep electricity, water and everything else functioning at NewSpring locations so people can be welcomed at Sunday services and have an opportunity to take a next step with Jesus.

Campus launches and upgrades allow us to provide more seats for more people to hear about Jesus, connect to the Bible, and connect to each other. People are much less likely to visit a church campus that is longer than a 15-minute drive away from them. We want to make it as easy as possible for people to meet Jesus and take their next step.

Part of our budget also goes to foreign missions, other churches, and building the Church around the world. After all, a win anywhere is a win everywhere.

We’re going to put our money where God’s heart is: connecting people to Jesus.
