In Constant Pursuit

Have you ever had a dream where you are grasping for help, but it seems unattainable?  You wake up feeling incredibly unsettled even though you know it was just a dream. Unfortunately, the discomfort we feel after a startling dream is a daily reality for some. Unlike a dream, in which relief comes with waking, those seeking help apart from Christ don't experience relief.

The beauty in our Savior, however, is that He is not okay with allowing us to continue attempting to do life apart from Him. Ephesians 2:13 says, "But now in Christ Jesus you who once were far away have been brought near through the blood of Christ.” He began pursuing our hearts thousands of years ago on the cross, and He continues to pursue us today. God yearns for a growing, thriving and loving relationship with each of us. "He himself is our peace" (Ephesians 2:14), and He wants to offer relief from the anxiety, discomfort and uncertainty in our lives.
Choosing to embrace discomfort, humble ourselves and make the personal decision to follow Jesus changes everything about the way we are able to face trials and discomfort. Allowing Christ to guide our lives opens us up for hope, peace and victory in all situations. He is pursuing. All we must do is accept.

  • Has there ever been a time that you have accepted Christ's pursuit of your heart? If not, why? What is keeping you from making that decision?
  • If you have accepted Christ, what areas of your life are you keeping from Him? How can you begin to let go of those areas and allow Christ to be in control?
