A Time to Fear or Rejoice

Jesus said many things about the end times when he was on the earth. He spoke of famines, earthquakes, and wars as the beginning of the birth pains of the end of time (Matthew 24:4-8). The early church believed they were in the last days, so we most definitely are in them. For the unbelieving, this is cause to fear. But for the Christian, it is cause to rejoice. Why? Because Jesus is alive, so I too can live—both now on earth and forever in Heaven.

Jesus came that we might have abundant life (John 10:10), not just an ordinary existence. The Bible says that in the last days it will be normal for people to be lovers of themselves, proud, disobedient, reckless, etc. But what I ought to be as a follower of Christ? Full of the fruit of the spirit: love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control (Galatians 5:22). The abundant life that Jesus purchased for us at the cross overflows out of us by His Spirit that lives inside of us. We are set free to live extraordinary lives in Him, no matter the season or hour. To God be the glory.
