Anticipating, Not Waiting

“I wait for the Lord, my whole being waits, and in His word I put my hope.” (Psalm 130:5)

Waiting is hard, whether you are sitting in the doctor’s office waiting for your appointment that was scheduled for 30 minutes ago, waiting to find out if you got the job or waiting for a special package to arrive in the mail. Our world is so instant that patience almost seems irrelevant. Like the giant panda, a willingness to endure is endangered. We forget about the famous saying: “The best things are worth waiting for.”

Waiting doesn’t have to be a negative action. To “wait for the Lord” is to anticipate God’s best plans for you. Waiting on God’s answers or movement is an honor, not an inconvenience. Let’s slow down and enjoy the wait, because the best things from God really are worth waiting for.

Reflect:

  • What are you waiting for?
  • What is God beginning to teach you while you wait?
