Are You Living With Purpose?

Jeremiah 1

What is the purpose of life? That is the age old question. Better yet, the question most of us ask, what is my purpose in life? Is it to be financially successful? Is it to get the nice job with the cushy corner office? Is it to live a happy life?

At the outset of Jeremiah’s ministry, the Lord reminds Jeremiah, “Before I formed you in the womb I knew you, before you were born I set you apart; I appointed you as a prophet  the nations” (Jeremiah 1:5). The Lord knew everything about Jeremiah before he was even born, and the same is true for us. We were made on purpose, with a purpose and for a purpose. God has a plan and purpose for each of our lives. It may not be easy or even what we want to hear, but God promises to be with us and to rescue us.

So how do we find this purpose? How do we know if we’re living on purpose? One way is to read the Bible. In order to know God’s purpose, we must know what He has to say. Another way is to serve. When we are serving others, we are imitating Jesus. When we become more like Jesus, we are following God’s purpose for our lives.

  • Are you struggling to find your purpose in life?
  • What opportunities do you have to serve others right now where you are?
  • What’s one thing you’ve learned so far from reading the Bible about what God wants for His people? Those dreams apply to you, too!
