Be Satisfied

Last year’s Thanksgiving feast was my family’s largest one ever. I ate so much food that I said I would never be hungry again. But by the next day, I was. Whatever it is we think we need, we often convince ourselves that we’ll be satisfied once we obtain it. While nothing of this world permanently satisfies, God offers something that does.

After asking a Samaritan woman to fetch him some water, Jesus tells her, “Everyone who drinks this water will be thirsty again, but whoever drinks the water I give him will never thirst. Indeed, the water I give him will become in him a spring of water welling up to eternal life” (John 4-13-14). The woman later recognized Jesus as the Son of God and told everyone about her encounter with Him. Many Samaritans were saved because of her testimony (John 4:39).

Don’t let what culture says is important keep you from God’s will;  look to Christ for the only kind of satisfaction that lasts. Then, give thanks and tell others about the kind of joy He has given you (Psalm 105:1), for a truthful witness saves lives (Proverbs 14:25).
