Big Faith

This morning, as I sat my kitchen table, my dog was waiting patiently at my feet for a bite of my scrambled eggs, his puppy dog eyes staring back at me were pitiful. He waits each day for anything I’m willing to give him.

Acts 3 tells of a man who also begged daily, only this man was sick and lame from birth. He most likely was dressed in rags and probably didn’t have a clean shampoo or shave.  He had to petition someone daily to physically carry him to the temple gate so he could beg for whatever he could get.  He was unwelcome inside the temple because of his poor condition. Years passed as this pitiful soul had to depend on others to carry him.  Daily, he waited for just a coin to be tossed his way.

Peter and John were about to enter the temple when Peter’s eyes spotted this man’s outstretched hand.  Peter told the man that he had no silver or gold, but boldly he reached out with his right hand toward the sick man.  Peter helped the man to his feet and he was instantly healed!  The people in the temple were so astonished, they came running toward them.  Acts 3:16 tells us, “By faith in the name of Jesus, this man whom you see and know was made strong.  It is Jesus’s name and the faith that comes through him that has completely healed him, as you can all see.”

In life, we are often satisfied with whatever comes our way.  We don’t normally ask for what we really need.  Today, have big faith!  Know that no matter what you may be facing or what you may be needing, that hope is found in Jesus.  Through Him, healing takes place and lives are transformed.

  • What are you hoping for today?  Have you asked Jesus for this?
  • Who are some people, similar to Peter and John, who have stood by you during difficult times?
