Chosen for God’s Team

One of the hardest things in life is growing up. It’s hard on us as children, and hard on us as parents. When is it time to cut the cord, and allow our children to make their own decisions?  When do we stop expecting them to live by our rules?

Oddly enough, we go through the same journey spiritually. God, in His wisdom, gave us His laws to live by. Without rules and laws, we would have no parameters by which to discern what is right and wrong, good and bad. At times, all of us push the boundaries when we don’t want to abide by the rules. The mistake we make in God’s kingdom is thinking that following all the rules makes us right in His sight.

Scripture says in Galatians that “the whole world is a prisoner of sin.” Faith in Christ is the only key that unlocks that prison. “Before this faith came, we were held prisoners by the law, locked up until faith should be revealed ... now that faith has come, we are no longer under the supervision of the law” (Galatians 3:23, 25). Through Jesus’s death on the cross, God allowed us to grow up and shed off the rules. He has chosen us for His team. He wants us to wear His name and choose His ways. He wants to lead us to victory.

Let us respond to His love by faith and wear His jersey for eternity.
