Dealing With Doubt

During his third missionary journey, Paul collected money from churches in Macedonia to help the believers in Jerusalem. Christian Jews were being persecuted, often stripped of whatever land and wealth they had. So Paul writes to the church in Corinth telling them about the generosity of the other churches in the area and how he is sending Titus, a young man called to the ministry, to take their donation to Jerusalem. Imagine how overwhelming it must have been for Titus to be given such a big spiritual burden and responsibility.

We all have those days, when we wake up and feel completely inadequate in our ability to accomplish our goals for the day, the week or the rest of our lives. Some of us have been waking up to that feeling for years. So how do we overcome this sense of inadequacy and stop doubting our value? The answer is in the life, death and resurrection of Jesus.

Hebrews 13:20-21 says, “May the God of peace, who through the blood of the eternal covenant brought back from the dead our Lord Jesus, that great Shepherd of the sheep, equip you with everything good for doing his will, and may he work in us what is pleasing to him, through Jesus Christ, to whom be glory for ever and ever. Amen.” If Jesus is Lord of your life, you have everything you need to accomplish what Christ has called you to do. God has equipped you for everything you are going to face, because according to scripture He takes pleasure in seeing us accomplish the work He has given us to do.

The peace of God will take hold our lives when we begin to grasp God’s word and His promises. His peace is always there and available to us, but it’s when we’re trusting God’s work in us that we feel it.
