Don’t Hide Your Sins

The little girl treasured the music box her daddy bought for her. She loved turning the little cat on the piano and watching him spin as tunes rang out. One day, she accidentally knocked the music box off its special place on her dresser. Hitting the floor, it broke into tiny pieces. Heartbroken, she tried to fix it herself. As she carefully glued, she accidentally attached the piano player's foot to her thumb. Hiding the problem had only caused more trouble and embarrassment. Now two messes had to be fixed. Through tears, she told her mother what happened. Her mother freed her from the responsibility of doing the repairs and quickly patched up the damage.

Our lives are a lot like the little girl's music box. How often do we sin and try to hide it? Doing so leads to more sin, misery and guilt. “He who conceals his sins does not prosper, but whoever confesses and renounces them finds mercy.” (Proverbs 28:13)

When the little girl confessed her mistake, she found mercy. Her mother helped her put everything back in place. Like the little girl, we cannot fix our sin or clean it up on our own. We'll only make a bigger mess than the one we started with. God knew this, and sent His Son to make things right again. Hebrews 2:17 says, “For this reason he had to be made like his brothers in every way, in order that he might become a merciful and faithful high priest in service to God, and that he might make atonement for the sins of the people."

Jesus has already paid for our sin. Don’t hide and try to pay for it yourself. Take it to Him and allow Him to fix what’s broken.
