Finding your way

John 14

Have you ever gotten lost?

Maybe you were a kid who wandered off in the grocery store or a new smartphone user who followed your GPS to an abandoned building instead of a restaurant. Chances are, you’ve been physically lost at one point in your life. When we are lost, one of the first things that often pops into our heads is “How will I find my destination?”

In John 14, the disciples were feeling lost and confused. They knew God had called them to the mission of following Jesus, but they had no clue where that mission was leading them or how they were going to get there. Thomas asked Jesus in John 14:5, “Lord, we don’t know where you are going, so how can we know the way?”

We get so caught up in finding our own way to our goals that we neglect to remember Jesus is the way to everything.

Jesus responds in John 14:6 by saying, “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me."

I am the way.

We so often get caught up in finding our own way to the destination of our goals that we neglect to remember that Jesus is the way to everything. How do you get to your destination? By following Jesus.

  • Is there an area in your life you need to surrender to Jesus, trusting that He is THE WAY and will bring you to your destination?
  • How can you obediently prepare for the future that God has for you in your day today?
