For All

“For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God,” (Romans 3:23). I memorized this verse the summer I went to church camp. We had a verse every day, but this is the only one I remembered. It’s brought me comfort when I screw up, reminding me I’m not alone in my shortcomings.

Ever noticed it’s easier to give yourself grace than it is to give grace to others? Holding on to pain is like a poison. It sucks out our joy and our ability to be fruitful. Think about your pain in context of the pain you’ve caused others. When I remember I have caused pain, too, and God has forgiven me, it becomes easier to extend that same grace to the person who hurt me.

No matter how awful the hurt, God forgives. Relax the death grip on your pain. Give it to God and see how He helps you forgive, too.
