Hold Your Ground

If you planted an acorn in the ground, eventually a tree would start to grow. If you tried to pull the tree out of the ground when it first sprouted, you could easily pluck it out with your hand. But if you waited until the tree had grown considerably tall, you couldn’t uproot it so easily. You would likely need a chainsaw to cut the tree down. Why? Because after a while, the roots of the tree have run so deep into the ground, the tree is not easily moved.

Proverbs 12:3 tell us, “No one can be established through wickedness, but the righteous cannot be uprooted.” We are by nature wicked, so nothing we do or don’t do will allow our roots to grow deep. We can only be made right through Jesus’s sacrifice, and that cannot be uprooted.

Paul tells us in Romans 8 that nothing can separate us or pluck us from the love of God which is in Jesus. Because of what Jesus did, we are not newly sprouted acorns but tall trees rooted deep in Him, and nothing can uproot us from His love.
