Investing in the Mission

God uses people to carry out His plans, and His plans are always bigger than our plans. When the vision and mission of the church is set high, it attracts a type of faith that goes beyond common thinking. These goals can only be reached by faithfulness and God’s provision. Big dreams need big vision, and big vision develops into missions that require big investments.

Paul challenges us to be faithful with the money entrusted to us on behalf of God’s mission in 2 Corinthians 8.  The men of Corinth were given a great sum of money to help those who were struggling in exile.  Paul was careful to remind the churches that the men were faithful and had great character. They were able to help make a trustworthy investment in the mission of the church.

We are capable of making trustworthy investments for the mission of Christ everyday. Our time and treasures can be used to expand the mission of our local church and communities, foreign missions and the Church as a whole. God will always bless joyful giving, and spending time and money on His mission is always an investment worth making.

Reflect:

  • How can I connect to local and/or foreign missions?
  • What am I being asked to invest in?
