Is Judgment Day For Real?

Judgment Day is the title for many end-of-time movies, books and TV shows.  This title is so commonplace that it now seems fictitious—just a scary title to seduce us into spending money on movie tickets and books.

However, according to Revelation 6, Judgment Day is 100 percent real.

In Revelation 6:1-12, God begins the final judgment of humanity.  All of the judgments build in intensity:  thunder, conquest, war, famine, widespread death and massive destruction on the earth. No wonder Hollywood execs see Revelation as a perfect script for edge-of-your-seat movies!

But Revelation is not a movie script—it is very real.

God in His great mercy withholds His wrath to give all of us time and opportunity to repent and follow Jesus. God’s patience with use should not be interpreted as permission to continue destructive behaviors.  The earth is temporary, and the day of judgment is a reality.

Here’s good news: When we know Christ, we can rest in His power, both now and forever. The destruction described in Revelation 6 could begin today or it might start more than 100 years from now.  Either way, Jesus’s power enables us to stand strong in the world until He takes us out of it.
