Living It Out

If I sacrifice time and money for others, people take notice. If I respond to anger with gentleness, people stop and listen. If I wake up early to spend time in God’s Word, people wonder why it’s so important. Because living for Jesus is not normal, it gets people’s attention.

As Christ-followers, we are called to “live such good lives among the pagans that, though they accuse [us] of doing wrong, they may see [our] good deeds and glorify God” (1 Peter 2:12). When we surrender our lives to Jesus, they are never the same. We don’t have the same desires or priorities as we did before. Our transformation speaks volumes about the truth of the gospel.

Later in his letter, Peter writes, “Always be prepared to give an answer…for the hope that [we] have” (1 Peter 3:15). Be ready to tell others about Jesus. Because when transformation is evident, it provides the perfect platform to proclaim how good and true our God is.
