More Equals Discomfort

Take a few minutes to list the things you want more of. More clothes. More money. More freedom. More hair. More natural curl for the hair. More peace. More happiness. More tools to make me happy. More shoes to make me happy. The list is endless.

With Jesus, we should always want more. We should always strive to know Him more, to love Him more and to emulate Him more. We should feel like we can’t get enough of Him.

As we chase after more of Jesus, we’ll find ourselves constantly being pushed out of our comfort zones. Jesus moved out of His comfort zone when He hung out with the Samaritans and ate with tax collectors. He most definitely wasn’t comfortable as He hung dying on a cross. But Jesus wanted to please His Father more than He wanted to please Himself so He did things that were uncomfortable.

To have more peace, more happiness, more joy and more growth in Christ, we must take up our crosses daily. Each day, we must deny ourselves to be more like Jesus. In doing so, we experience discomfort. It might come in the form of an awkward conversation. It might mean sacrificing to help someone in need. Whatever the situation, when we’re trusting and following Christ, we can find comfort in knowing we’re in God’s will. What better place is there to be?
