Order in the Court

If you have ever been in court or seen a scene of a courtroom on a TV show, you know that when the court gets rowdy the judge pounds the gavel in an attempt to bring peace to the chaos that has broken out. The judge is there in order to bring judgment and to ensure that all things run smoothly in the courtroom.

Paul tells us in his first letter to the church in Corinth that, “God is not a God of disorder but of peace” (1 Corinthians 14:33). Just like a judge brings order to the courtroom, God brings peace to the chaos in our lives. This statement by Paul encourages us that God will silence the storms, calm the chaos and bring peace to the problems in our lives.

Maybe the reason your life seems out of order is because you’re trying to calm the chaos instead of allowing the Prince of Peace to silence your storm. When everything is out of control in your life, give God the control.

Reflect:

  • Where in your life do you need to hand over the control to God?
  • Are you trying to hold your life together, or are you going to let God bring peace to your life? Take a minute today to examine your life and allow God to calm the chaos in your life.
