Peace In The Chaos

The line was long in the grocery store, someone cut you off on your way to work. When you get home, the house is a mess, the kids have a science project they need your help with, and there are still some things you need to get caught up on before you go to bed. You have done nothing but work hard all day. Even once you finally lay down, your thoughts are going in a million different directions. You begin to think, “Can’t I just catch a break? I have put in my fair share and I deserve some down time!”

There is nothing more humbling than remembering in that moment what you would owe if it wasn’t for Jesus. We would owe a lot more than a hard day’s work and patience through some frustrating circumstances.

Isaiah 53:5 says, “But he was pierced for our transgressions, he was crushed for our iniquities; the punishment that brought us peace was upon him, and by his wounds we are healed.”

Christ’s punishment brought us peace. What a gift during a frustrating day! Instead of allowing our circumstances to cloud our vision, remember that the peace of God is freely given and that Jesus took our place!

Romans 15:13, “May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in him, so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit.”

Trust that the Lord will give you His peace in the midst of the craziness of life, and you will begin to overflow with hope.
