Portable Praise

Since the mid 1950s, product design has focused on portability. Engineers strive to create goods that make life easier and go wherever you go. David, a musician and king of Israel, was onto this portability trend long before the introduction of the pocket radio, portable television or mobile phone. David broadcast songs of praise to God everywhere he traveled.

In Psalm 145:1-3, David proclaimed: “I will exalt you, my God the King; I will praise your name for ever and ever. Every day I will praise You and extol Your name for ever and ever. Great is the Lord and most worthy of praise; His greatness no one can fathom.”

Isn’t it great that praising God is not confined to the church building? Similarly, worship is not relegated to a single day of the week. We can and should praise God at all times, whether we’re doing chores, traveling, exercising or working. Whatever time of day, whether late at night or early in the morning, “the Lord is near to all who call on Him, to all who call on Him in truth” (Psalm 145:18).

Wherever you are right now and throughout the day today, take time offer up thanks and praise to God, for He is great and worthy of praise.
