Promise Keeper

One of the great celebrations that our church gets to enjoy every year is The Gauntlet. We spend months preparing and praying for life change among the thousands of teenagers who attend. When our buses invade Daytona Beach, we are expectant. We know that the Lord is going to fulfill His promises to us, and He always does immeasurably more than we can ask or imagine.

Simeon was promised that he would see the Messiah that would bring about salvation. There was no doubt the moment he laid eyes on Jesus, even as an infant, that God’s promise was fulfilled. Luke 2:27 says, “Moved by the spirit, he went into the temple courts.” God did not have to tell Simeon, “A savior awaits you in the temple courts.” We can’t miss that Simeon had an expectant heart. He was following the Spirit in simple obedience as he went to the courts. He knew the Lord would fulfill His promise.

God has many promises for all of us. We have seen promises fulfilled in scripture, at Gauntlet and other areas of our church. What we must remember is to live with expectant hearts. We have to believe the Spirit can move in our lives every day.

  • What promises has God made to you?
  • What steps of obedience can you take to help fulfill these promises?
