Saved? Serve.

Galatians 6.9-10, Ephesians 4.11-16

“Saved people serve people” is one of NewSpring’s core values. When I heard the concept explained at ownership class, I remember thinking, “So many people attend NewSpring, if everyone did something there wouldn’t be nearly enough to do!” Then God corrected me, as He frequently does. He reminded me that if everyone served, the church would have an even greater impact on lives across South Carolina, America and the world.

There are two main reasons to serve. First, serving allows us to prosper. Paul says in Galatians 6:9-10, “Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up. Therefore, as we have opportunity, let us do good to all people, especially to those who belong to the family of believers.”

The second reason is that God blesses each of us with gifts, so if you’re not serving, something isn’t getting done. Ephesians 4:11-12 says, “So Christ Himself gave the apostles, the prophets, the evangelists, the pastors and teachers, to equip His people for works of service, so that the body of Christ may be built up.” The whole body of believers, joined and held together by Christ, grows and builds itself up as each part does its work.

You have a role to play. The question is what is it?
