Sleeping Through the Miracle

Acts 20

We are the living example of God’s greatest miracle.

We, who were dead in our sins, have been brought to life in Christ and freed from the power sin had over us. However, I often live as if I slept through this miracle.

In Acts 20, a boy named Eutychus fell asleep while Paul was preaching. He proceeded to fall out the third story window he was sleeping in. Paul went down, took the boy by the arm and proclaimed him alive. What did this experience look like for Eutychus? He had fallen to what should have been his death, yet he was still alive. He had slept through the miracle everyone had been a part of because he was the miracle.

As Christians, we can get so caught up in the miracles of Scripture or those we see in the lives of others we can forget our own miracle. Jesus came down from Heaven the way Paul descended the stairs in Acts 20 and proclaimed us alive.  This is not something to be forgotten!  As you grow as a follower of Christ, remember that God’s first miracle was that He was willing to bring us to life.

  • In what ways did you “sleep through” the miracle of your salvation?
  • In what ways is God trying to wake you up today?
