Speaking Their Language

On the day of Pentecost, the Holy Spirit gave the apostles the power to speak in the language of each person gathered in Jerusalem. When this happened, people cried in amazement, “We hear them declaring the wonders of God in our own tongues!”

Today, we still have the power to speak someone else’s language. Just maybe not so literally.

We all have unique experiences. God knows what we’ve been through, what we’re going through, and what we’re going to go through. With that knowledge, He puts us in contact with people who need to hear our stories. Our experiences with God become the perfect language for us to relate to the people He places in our lives.

Some stories are upbeat retellings of God’s favor and blessing. Others times, our stories involve tragedy and suffering. Romans 8:28 tells us that God works all things together for the good of those who love Him. We can trust God to redeem the bad times, knowing that none of them are without purpose. God has a plan for your life, and it intertwines with His plans for the lives of others.

So whatever your story is, be ready to share it. You may not know how or when the conversation will start, but you can be sure that someone needs to hear it.
