Success Starts With A Plan

A craftsman can build furniture by applying training and experience and carefully following a plan. The result serves someone’s needs well for a long time. God wants us to build a purposeful life and also make the lives of others better. To build this life, He wants us to know Him well and use that knowledge every day. Like a craftsman, we must apply our desire and discipline while following God’s plan.

Proverbs 2:6-8 helps guide us in our training so that we are best able to follow God’s plan. First, we are reminded of the gift of wisdom we’ve been given to help us on our journey.  Wisdom is a combination of knowledge and understanding. Knowledge and understanding come from what God says to us through the Bible. We must know the right information to be able to use it well.

We are also shown how to view ourselves in relation to God. When we are just and faithful, He guards and protects us (Proverbs 2:8). When we place our faith in Jesus, who led a sinless life through death and resurrection, our right relationship with God is established. Our faith in Jesus justifies us with God.

Finally, we are reminded that we don’t have to be perfect, but we do need to actively live in obedience. Doing our best to learn and follow His teachings while trusting fully in Jesus makes us blameless in His sight (Proverbs 2:7).  We are upright with God when we are moving closer to Him step-by-step, living boldly with faith and confidence in His plan for our lives.
