Often, the best way to show value is through a personal story. When people see your excitement about a product, event or experience, they immediately want to see and experience the same thing. Let’s say you had a really good cup of coffee. It was so good you tell everyone you encounter about it. As you share the story, you recall the nutty flavor and amazing aroma in detail. When you’re finished, everyone will want to know where they can get the same delicious brew.

As Christians, we have stories to tell, and ours are much better than a cup of coffee. We all have stories of God’s work in our lives. And, much like the testimonial about the coffee, our testimony about God’s work helps to draw people toward Him. In Acts 22:2-21, Paul gives a great example of what a testimony should include. He tells the crowd about his life before Jesus, recounting the details of his birth, education and fierce persecution of the early Christian church. Then he tells the crowd how he met Jesus, recallling the day he heard Jesus’s voice on the road to Damascus. Finally, Paul tells his listeners how the experience of meeting Jesus changed him forever. Paul explains how he was healed by Ananias and given a new purpose in life.

Like Paul, we are witnesses of God’s work, and we are called to share our testmonies. This is good, life-giving news. When we share our stories, we testify to the power of Jesus and His ability to redeem, forgive and radically change lives.
