The Most Amazing Race

How would your life change if you were selected to participate in the TV show “The Amazing Race”? It would be a physical and mental challenge and most of us would need to prepare in order to win.

Following Jesus Christ is a lot like participating in that show. We are chosen; then, after salvation, we begin our amazing race. We will face physical and mental challenges along the way. If we don’t prepare, we’ll find it difficult to run the race well.

In 2 Peter 1:3-4, we are reminded that God has “given us everything we need for a godly life through our knowledge of Him.” That is such good news! God has given us all of the supplies we will need for our race. We don’t have to worry about packing or that we’ve forgotten to pack something we’ll need on the way. He has already thought of everything!

God knows all of our needs before we even know we need them.

During our lifelong journey following Jesus, we’re encouraged to add to supplies along the way. These include faith, goodness, knowledge, self-control, perseverance, godliness, mutual affection, and love (2 Peter 1:5-8).

Like blocks built one on top of another, our effort to increase all of these makes us stronger. As we become stronger, we will be more effective and productive in our amazing race with Jesus.
