The Power Is On

Electricity is never so appreciated as when we experience a power outage. It is amazing the adjustments we have to make. During a power outage, have you flipped on a light switch anyway? Have you tried to turn on the computer or television to find out what’s going on? Or maybe during the outage power is restored you continue to sit in the dark, not knowing what has been made available to you. When we are without power we realize just how awesome it is and how much we rely on it. If we go a long time without losing power, we may again take for granted what a blessing it is.

Paul wrote to the Ephesian church saying, “I pray that the eyes of your heart may be enlightened in order that you may know the hope to which he has called you, the riches of his glorious inheritance in his holy people, and his incomparably great power for us who believe. That power is the same as the mighty strength he exerted when he raised Christ from the dead and seated him at his right hand in the heavenly realms” (Ephesians 1:18-20). If you are a follower of Christ, you have the same power working in your life that raised Jesus from the dead. Everything in your life is under His control. Sometimes, the longer we have been enjoying this power, the more we take it for granted. Sometimes we sit in darkness in a room of our life, not realizing the power that is available to us. God doesn’t want us to operate this way. Be encouraged and encourage others. In Jesus, we have hope and power in this life and an incredible future!

  • If you haven’t asked Jesus to be your Lord, what is keeping you from accepting his “hope...riches of his glorious inheritance...and his incomparably great power?”
  • If you are a follower of Jesus, are you operating day to day in the “hope...riches of his glorious inheritance...and his incomparably great power?” In what areas are you still operating in the dark?
