Truth In Lending

In the movie “The Matrix,” Morpheous offers Neo a choice: There are two pills. One will cause you to see the truth but leave you changed forever. The other will allow you to live a comfortable lie.

If we desire to know the truth, we will see that the Kingdom of Heaven is real, supernatural and present. When we accept the truth of the Bible, we begin to see through the comfortable lies the world tries to fool us with and start to operate in a new Spirit-led reality.

Start with Proverbs 19:17 as your first dose of truth: “Whoever is kind to the poor lends to the Lord, and He will reward them for what they have done.” “Poor” in this verse also includes the poor in spirit. As a Christ follower, you have the power to end such poverty.

If you want to see more of God’s kingdom here and now, invest in others. Serve them with your actions and words. See Jesus in them, because He made us all in His image.

Starting today, choose one person and begin to invest in him or her. Ask Jesus to reveal Himself to you through your intentional love for this person. Your life will be changed forever, and so will his or hers.

Reflect:

  • Are you living the comfortable lie or seeking the truth?
  • Who can you invest in?
