Two Things

How many of us pray for the Lord to not give us riches? It is natural to want more. That void or desire can never be met by what this world has to offer though. Think of Hollywood where celebrities have more money than can ever be spent and their lives are a disaster.

It is interesting that the writer of this Proverb asks to not be given riches because then he would have too much and dishonor the Lord.  We are shown to pray for our daily bread just as Jesus modeled for us when He prayed the Lord’s prayer.  God gives us what we need for that day and we should be concerned only with that day. We must trust that if we are obedient with what we are given that God will provide exactly what we need for this day.
