Have you ever felt unimportant or unusable? You aren’t alone. Many people in the Bible felt this way at some time. It doesn’t take much for our weak spirits to grow weary and our confidence to falter.

Sometimes it’s because we compare ourselves with others, feeling we’ll never match up to the perfect exterior we see in other people. Other times, it’s because we let Satan convince us we are unworthy or useless. He knows our weak points, and he is constantly on the prowl to prick us where our armor is gaping.

Let us remember God’s promises in these times. He will not forget the lowly, the unloved, the weak. It is sometimes the weakest vessels that He uses first and most effectively. Look at David. He messed up big time, yet God still chose to make him one of the descendants in the line that leads to Christ’s birth on earth. Moses was terrible at public speaking, yet God used him to lead His chosen people out of captivity. It is when we are the most vulnerable and humble that God gets the most glory.

Are there opportunities you’re shying away from because you’re feeling weak and uncomfortable? Take heart in the fact that God doesn’t ask us to be perfect. He asks us to follow Him.
