When The Truth Hurts

Here’s the truth about sharing Jesus with others: some people accept the message while others reject it (John 14:6). When people are confronted with Jesus, they see a glimpse of who they are and their desperate need of a savior. A call for change just doesn’t sit well with many people.

While growing closer to God, a natural desire springs from within to introduce Him to others. We see this in Acts 14 as Paul tirelessly shares Jesus, despite a stoning so bad his persecutors thought he was dead (verse 19).

In sharing the Gospel, keep in mind that Jesus fully understands rejection. If you are turned down or persecuted, it is because He was too (John 15:20). When a friend or family member rejects our attempts, we often feel: hurt and dejection. Don't miss God’s grace in your disappointment. His patience leads us to repentance and at just the right time He will save.

  • Who should you you tell the good news of Jesus even if it means being made fun of and ridiculed?
  • How do you handle times of rejection? Do you need to lean more on God’s grace and mercy?
