Why Settle for Less

God created sex and gave it to us as a gift. He wants our lives to be blessed in every area, including sex.

Satan seeks pervert everything God created for good. John 10:10 says, “the thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy; I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full.” Satan destroys sex by tricking us into settling for something less than what God intended.

Looking to get married, I sought a married friend’s advice on relationships. Today, his marriage is great. But when he first got married, he and his wife fought more about issues in the bedroom than anything else. It left them feeling disconnected and unfulfilled. They had settled for a cheapened version of sex before marriage, and it cost them the fullness of the blessing God desired for their lives. Though their relationship is happy and healthy now, they worked for many years to get there.

I used to think sex before marriage was bad because it was something “good Christians” weren’t supposed to do. I never realized it could ruin the intimacy of a marriage. With this knowledge, why would anyone settle for less?
