True Faith Overcomes
Overview: Daniel 3-4, 1 John 2
Daniel and his three friends live faithfully to the Lord as Hebrew exiles at the Babylonian court. Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego refuse to worship the Babylonian king or his gods and are thrown into a fiery furnace. But God preserves them through the fire, leading to their promotion and the king to praise God himself. Daniel again interprets Nebuchadnezzar’s dream, that the God of Israel rules mankind and will humble those who oppose Him.
John explains that we see God’s light through following Jesus Christ in our everyday life. He reminds believers that we prove our faith by the way we love each other. He warns against "many antichrists," who are people who deny that Jesus is God’s Son. But he assures his readers we can overcome the world by abiding in Christ.
