You’ve Got a Gift

If you are a follower of Jesus, you have a spiritual gift, and you are called to use it to support other believers as well as to reach people far from Him.

The members of the Church need each other. Romans 12 explains this by comparing the Church to a body. Each part has a different function but must work with the other parts or the body doesn’t work correctly. Each part needs the other parts. Paul continues this thought in his letter to the church in Corinth. In 1 Corinthians 16 he reminds the church to take care of the men who are coming to minister and share the gospel, and he praises people who are devoting their lives to caring for those who minister.

Although we often use the word “minister” to describe a church pastor, we all are ministers. 1 Peter 4:10 says, “Each of you should use whatever gift you have received to serve others, as faithful stewards of God’s grace in its various forms.” This is what God is teaching us through Paul’s letter to the Corinthian believers. Some were gifted to travel and spread the gospel, some were gifted to provide financially for these travelers and some were gifted with hospitality, giving them a safe place to stay on their journey. All were focused on serving their fellow Christ followers so the news of Jesus could spread.

Be ready to use your gift in ways that allow others to better use theirs.
