Baptism

Baptism is one of two ordinances of the Church. Baptism symbolizes our union with Jesus in death and burial and the act of coming out of the water symbolizes our union with Christ’s resurrection. Baptism identifies us as followers of Christ and serves as our public profession of faith in Him. It is our first act of obedience as a disciple of Christ and is our initiation into the family of God. Though not necessary for salvation, we see a precedent in Scripture that those who receive Christ are baptized soon after. Because we want to follow the example of Jesus’ baptism and all other baptisms in the New Testament, and because of its symbolic association with death, burial, and resurrection, NewSpring practices baptism by immersion in the name of the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. Baptism by immersion after salvation is required for membership.
