Discipleship describes the process of following Jesus daily. Salvation is just the beginning of our new life in Christ. While salvation is maintained by the grace and power of God, not by a Christian’s self-effort, it is through confession and repentance that a Christian continues to grow into the likeness of Jesus Christ through the sanctifying work of the Holy Spirit. NewSpring teaches that our spiritual life is strengthened through an everyday relationship with Jesus through spiritual disciplines such as prayer, Bible reading, and Christian fellowship. Engaging in discipleship offerings such as groups, classes, and serving on a team are important aspects of participation in the life of NewSpring Church.
The Holy Spirit provides the Christian with power for living, understanding of spiritual truth, and guidance in doing what is right. The Holy Spirit works to change us so that we conform to the image of Christ. The Christian seeks to be filled with the Spirit and live under His control daily. NewSpring teaches that the full spectrum of spiritual gifts, including prophecy, miracles, tongues, and the interpretation of tongues, continues today. NewSpring believes in the orderly operation of these gifts.
