Session 1
Evil doesn’t win
From 40 Days of Prayer and Fasting Guide
Call to Prayer
Evil may try to scream in the streets. Darkness may try to linger. Psalm 37 declares one powerful message: Evil doesn’t win.
Sometimes the darkness feels overwhelming. Our flesh gets tired and our faith becomes battle-worn. But praise be to God who gives us everything. Though what we have seems small, it is greater than the seeming abundance of the enemy.
Peace is our Christ-bought reality. Power is our divine birthright. Our belief in those promises and our delight in the Lord can and will chase away the darkness.
As you read and pray today, may God fill you with faith and boldness in believing, “In just a little while, the wicked will be no more.” May you be filled with confidence knowing He will soon set all things right. May you go and operate in power brothers and sisters.
Darkness cannot win. You cannot lose. Jesus is coming!

Ways to Pray
- Delight in the Lord. Sing to Him. Tell Him what you are thankful for. Remember all the times His peace has come to you and His presence overwhelmed you.
- Be still. God knows your anger. Pour it out to Him. Tell Him your fears and frustrations. Cast your worries on Him because He cares for you.
- Ask God to reveal the power you possess. The same power that conquered the grave is alive in you. Declare out loud the victory God has given you over every temptation, addiction, fear, discouragement, and evil of this world.
