Be Encouraging

In Exodus 17, the Amalekites came and attacked the Israelites. Moses sent Joshua and his soldiers to fight them. Meanwhile, Moses went to a hill and held up his hands to God. When his hands were up, the Israelites did well, but when he let them fall, the Israelites began to fail.

Moses was under physical, mental and spiritual stress, and the outcome of the battle seemed to depend on him raising his arms. However, Moses wasn’t completely on his own. Aaron, his brother, and Hur assisted him. They gave Moses a stone to sit on, and when his arms were too tired, they both held up Moses’ hands. Because of this the Israelites had victory.

Moses had brothers he could lean on, and we as a Christian community should mimic this example. Christians aren’t meant to do life alone; therefore, we should always be looking for ways we can pray for, encourage, lift up and push each other toward Christ.
