How To Change Your Life
We probably all learned in school how a caterpillar builds a chrysalis and, over time, emerges as a butterfly. While it is inside the chrysalis, the caterpillar is growing and changing, and when it comes out, the change becomes clear to anyone who sees it.
Our lives as we walk with Jesus are not so very different. When we receive Jesus as our savior, He accepts us and loves us right where we are, but He loves us too much to let us stay that way. Over time, the Lord works in our hearts to change us from the inside out.
Colossians 3:9-10 reminds us that we have “taken off the old self” and “put on the new self.” Once we have received Jesus, we can’t go back to the person we were before. As we begin to listen to God and do what He says, by taking our next steps as He reveals them to us, we will grow and we will change. It won’t happen overnight, and it might not be easy, but it will be worth it as we grow into the person who God created us to be.
Just like a caterpillar’s fullest potential is not to stay a caterpillar, our fullest potential is not to stay the way we are. Let’s surrender to the Lord today, and allow Him to make the change in our hearts unmistakable.
- What next step is God telling you to take today?
- What can you do to begin moving in the direction He is telling you to go?
- How are God’s changes to your heart visible to others?
